- Blue Devils Pummel Peachtree Ridge
14-0 - The Norcross Blue Devils
broke out of a late season slump as
they ended regular season play on
the road at Bunten Road Park.
Finishing up on a high note,
Norcross beat the Peachtree Ridge
Lions 14-0 Saturday afternoon.
As the Goodrich blimp hovered
overhead, Norcross pitchers crafted
a two hit masterpiece to earn their
first shut out goal of the season.
Drew Aspinwall and Brendan Fury each
working two innings, struck out 3
batters, gave up no walks, and were
backed up by an error free defense
that did not allow a Lion runner to
cross home plate.
Norcross batters scored early and
scored often, jumping out to a 2 - 0
lead in the first inning and racking
up 12 more scores to run rule the
Ridge for the second time this
season in shortened innings.
Player of the game honors were
awarded to 4 players including the
two pitchers Aspinwall and Fury, and
to two of the game's hot hitters,
Jacob Gassert and Drew Aspinwall.
Finishing the regular season with a
solid record of 13 - 6 - 0 the Blue
Devils will likely play as the 4th
or 5th seed in the GGBL County
Championship Series Game 2 at Noon
on Saturday, June 2nd.
The Blue Devils get little rest as
they will convene at 11 AM Sunday
morning at the Pinckneyville home
park for pitching drills before a 1
PM inter-league game Sunday
afternoon with the Ocee Stars.
