2004 Pee-Wee Red Sox Awards


One of the most important things for me as a coach is to ensure that the kids look forward to the next season or level after playing on the team.  I think everyone of our players enjoyed coming to the ball park.
  • 2004 Red Sox Goals:
    1. Get a defensive Shut Out
    2. Play a game where every player reaches base - Accomplished!
    3. Play an error free game - Accomplished!
    4. Win the American League - Accomplished!

MeeMaw - your looking fine Fan of the year award

  • With both of Zack’s grandmas in Wisconsin, he has adopted MeeMaw

Kevin Langston - Skip Caray Scorekeeper award

  • Second straight season keeping the book

Coach John

  • Second straight season coaching third base
  • Always strategizing during the game and wants the kids to learn advanced strategy (once wanted to teach zack how to decoy the runner into thinking there was an over throw)

 Coach Tom

  • Fun to be around, 4th season we have been on the same team

 Coach Jack

  • Pitched almost 5 fewer innings than the coaches we faced but we had more AB’s, more Hits More runs (+9) and fewer strike-outs than the other coach’s.

 Coach Jim

  • Making his 2004 debut on Saturday
  • 5th season we have been together, we are going to miss them next season

 Jake - Chris Berhman Silver Throat award

  • Retired from baseball but still active in the game
  • Provided Expert analysis on the games this season

 Jeremy - Rookie of the year award

  • Remarkable job of playing on a team of tee-ball all-stars and stepping up to play at a very high level.

 Christian – Nomar Garciapara - Most improved player award

  • Batting improved all season long
  • Dependable out in the field
  • Had a double and a triple in the close game victory over the Diamondbacks.

 Ian - Hammerin Hank Aaron silver slugger award

  • Worked hard in practice all year

 Tommy - Javy Lopez Ironman catcher award

  • Caught all year for this team
  • Caught a foul tip for an out and tagged out a Diamondback runner at the plate
  • Led the team in walks with 7

Nelson - Andruw Jones Longest catches of the year award

  • One of the youngest players in the league
  • Gave up Tee-Ball all-stars to play on this team
  • Led the team in singles, smart base runner

Trey - Johnny Damon best range in the outfield award

  • Led the team in runs scored and doubles
  • Tied for second in hits, third in average

 Zack – Golden Glove - Double play award

  • Never had a dropped ball all year, Two unassisted double plays in one game, three for the year
  • Only Kevin and Carter have fewer strike outs
  • During the winning streak, he had a stretch where he went 10-12 over 5 games

 Lane - Marcus Giles Gamer Award

  • The best second baseman in the league, I think the best pure infielder on this team
  • Second on the team in home runs, they were legitimate bombs
  • 1200 slugging percentage, he had more doubles, triples and homers than he had singles

 Sammy - A-rod Hot Corner Award

  • Threw out 3 runners at first and 2 at second base this year.
  • Intimidates our opponents by playing inside the bag at 3rd
  • Aggressive hitter.  The only player on the team not to walk this season.
  • Started 2 games for us this year and will need to pitch in the tournament

 Carter – Cy Young - John Schmoltz save award

  • 5-1 With 3 saves (5 Beamings)
  • Retired 18 of his last 19 batters he has faced
  • One of the best 1st baseman in the league

 Kevin - MVP - Teddy Ballgame award

  • Led the team in Hits, RBI’s, and Home Runs
  • Pitched very well during our 6 game winning streak, didn’t hit one batter all season
