Norcross

unable
to
overcome
a 4-0
deficit
in the
2nd
inning
and was
eliminated
from the
Georgia
Dixie
Youth
State
Tournament
competition
on
Wednesday
evening.
Brendan
Furry
pitched
brilliantly
keeping
the
Collins
Hill
batters
off
balance
with his
change
of speed
pitches.
All four
Collins
Hill
runs
were
un-earned
by early
game
defensive
blunders
by the
Norcross
defense.
They
eventually
settled
down and
shut out
Collins
Hill the
final
three
innings
and
pulled
to
within
one run
of
extending
the
tournament
at least
another
day.
James
Todd
made his
tournament
debut as
he
replaced
Mark
Burkett
who was
ill.
Norcross
American's
final
tournament
record
was 6-3
(2-2 at
the
state
tournament).
Norcross National
kept
Norcross's
state
championship
hopes
alive as
they won
for the
third
time at
state.
Norcross
National
plays
tonight
at 6pm
vs.
North
Gwinnett
(perhaps
some
revenge
factor)
and have
to win
twice.
2nd game
at
8:00pm....
Peachtree
Ridge
played
NG 0-0
through
to the
4th and
then NG
broke
out and
won
eliminating
Greg
Collin's
Peachtree
Ridge
team
last
night.
It was a
great
defensive
game.
Lee
County
upset
Albany
6-4 in
the Red
(left)
bracket
in 6
innings
such
that
Collins
Hill,
Lee and
Albany
all have
1 loss.
A coin
flip led
to a Lee
- Albany
6pm
rematch
with the
winner
to face
Collins
Hill in
the Red
bracket
championship.
There
were two
ties and
five
lead
changes
in the
game.
Norcross
National
also won
in their
game
Tuesday
night as
they
downed
Newton
County
by a
score of
14-8.
Both
Norcross
teams
continue
play at
6:00 pm
Wednesday,
July
13th in
Grayson.
