2006 Norcross Americans Poem

We
began the All-star season on a hot
sunny afternoon.
With the All-star tryouts and hopes
that our sons would be practicing
soon.
It was Mothers Day and who could
forget?
But we were willing to give up that
day to get our kids all set.
Our first practice game at
Mountain Park
Our All-stars seemed tired and the
night grew dark
But the games that mattered were up
in our sights.
And who knew that our All-stars
would have a future so bright!
With Patrick and James
scooping it up in the field
We were sure to get the out.
And Wylie’s homerun hitting the coke
sign
Was such an awesome route!
Of course, Cy Young honors
are due to Furry and to Bauer.
The batters facing them were sure to
cower.
And then there was Nelson, with his
bright red gear.
The opposing third base coaches
learned his glove to fear!
Craport always made the stop
and off to third he would race.
But, to me the best thing about him
was the smile on his face!
And Brantley, he was a pro at
backing up first
To do his best, he had a thirst!
With opposing teams like
Greyson and Peachtree Ridge in the
hot sun
Bulldog and Ford brought their
gloves to the field and We “Got ‘er
done”!
And with Baches awesome throw to the
plate-
Our bleachers could be heard
screaming- those Americans are so
great!
And who could forget South
Gwinnett?
Once we got rid of those bees- we
were all set!
To take home the District 7 trophy
We had met our team goals- it was
easy to see!
On to the state where we met
Collins Hill
A hard first game pick- but just to
be there- What a thrill!
Thunhorst showed his moves on the
mound.
You could hear the opposing team
say, “How fundamentally sound”!
Let us not forget our
alternate- Jake- a big thanks to you
for giving it your all!
I am sure you will be a force to be
reckoned with in upcoming ball!
To Zack- well its hard to be the
coaches son.
But, you always take it in good
spirit and rise to have fun!
To Mr. Hutton- thanks so much for
keeping track of the pitches.
Your accent and your “one- liners”
always kept me in stitches.
Mr. Bache- those kids looked to your
face for those pep talks.
By the end of the season, the kids
could be heard saying, “Coach Glenn
Rocks”!
To Jackie- our team mom-
super with the emails, snacks, and
keeping us in the “know”
Anyone who has had your job before-
knows you had a hard road to tow.
To Coach Scott- his song was “Give
it everything ya got”
Those kids sure did that and a lot
more, I thought!
With every day games- it is
hard to keep up with the bats.
So, thank you Coach Wil for keeping
up with those stats!
And to Mr. Bell- you were so good
with the dugout and keeping up with
the cheers!
And for calling you that- I owe you
how many beers?
After last year, we were
nervous to call Dan to protest.
But, when it came right down to it-
he was certainly the best!
To Jake and To Trevor, our JSPN crew
We wouldn’t have our video memories
without the two of you!
So many sayings, so much fun,
it is hard to remember, there were a
slew!
9:30 in the morning, Git ‘er done,
and Drop it Higgins just to name a
few!
We all needed some rest- that would
be true!
But, what? No snacks, no trips to
Monticello, or driving to Berkeley
to do?
After some time to gather my
thoughts, I realized no matter how
many wins we took from the plate-
Our Norcross American team in my
mind was the BEST IN THE STATE!!
